Castria Now Supports CarPlay

Your commute just got a lot more enjoyable.

CarPlay support is coming to Castria on iOS, and we're genuinely excited about this one. If you've ever fumbled with your phone trying to get an episode started before pulling out of the driveway, you know why.

What it looks like

Connect your iPhone to your car, and Castria appears right on your dashboard screen. You get a full Now Playing card — episode artwork, title, show name, and a scrubber — plus transport controls: play, pause, skip back 15 seconds, skip forward 30. Everything you'd reach for on your phone, right there on the car display. Eyes on the road.

The ad-skipping still works — you don't have to do anything

This is the part we wanted to get right. When an episode plays through Castria's CarPlay interface, it's the same player as on your phone. The ad-skip markers are already in place before you hit the road. When playback hits an ad, it skips it. Hands-free in the app, hands-free in the car.

You're not choosing between "use CarPlay" and "get ad-skipping." You get both.

Why this took a while

CarPlay requires a special Apple entitlement — it's not something any app can just turn on. We applied, waited, got approved, and built a proper CarPlay audio player on top of it. The result is a native CarPlay subsystem: a dedicated controller that coordinates playback between your in-car display and the app, keeps artwork loading fast, and hands off cleanly when you plug in or disconnect.

We didn't want to ship a stripped-down "controls only" experience. The full player — artwork, scrubber, queue awareness — is there.

Available now in v1.3

CarPlay support is live in Castria v1.3, available today on the App Store. If you have Auto-Updates on, it may already be on your phone. If not, head to the App Store and update now.

Already using Castria? The setup is exactly what you'd expect: plug in your phone (or connect via Bluetooth if your car supports wireless CarPlay), tap Castria on your dashboard, and start listening. Your queue is exactly where you left it.

What's next

CarPlay fills in the one gap in Castria's cross-device story — web, iPhone, iPad, Android, and now in the car. The podcast follows you anywhere, and the ads still skip themselves the whole way.
